Cubic Zirconia Material Properties
Cubic Zirconia (CZ) is the cubic crystalline form of zirconium dioxide (ZrO2). It is generally colorless and relatively hard (8 – 8.5 on the Mohs scale). It is lightweight, wear resistant, is high density, has good compressive strength and is corrosion resistant. A high refractive index makes it ideal for optical applications. Lenses can be used as aspheric or collimating. Chemical stability of Yttrium stabilized Cubic Zirconia (ZrO2 + Y2O3) makes it suitable for use in the chemical industry.
Mechanical applications for precision balls include: bearings, valves, pumps, flow meters, metrology instrumentation, medical devices, probes
Optical applications for precision balls include: lenses, fiber optics, bar code readers, medical devices
